Privacy Policy

A clear explanation of which data Lingus needs, why it is used and how you can control it.

Updated 31 July 2026

1. About this policy

This policy applies to lingus.app and the Lingus mobile application for iOS and Android.

The controller of personal data processed through Lingus is CAR SOLUTIONS NETWORK SPÓŁKA Z OGRANICZONĄ ODPOWIEDZIALNOŚCIĄ, a company registered in Poland. Questions about personal data may be sent to info@lingus.app.

2. Data we process

Account data

Your name, email address, account identifiers and information provided by Apple or Google when you choose federated sign-in. Passwords are stored only as protected derived values.

Personal learning content

Words, phrases, pasted passages and context that you explicitly submit; confirmed meanings, corrections, goals and learning settings. Lingus does not automatically collect content from other applications without your action.

Memory history

Exercise answers, cues used, review times and separate estimates for recognition, recall and production.

Technical data

Application and device version, language, time zone, network information, error logs, notification delivery and security events.

3. Why we use data

  • create an account and synchronize data between devices
  • resolve an expression’s exact meaning in the submitted context
  • prepare retrieval tasks and schedule useful review times
  • show recognition and active-recall estimates separately
  • deliver notifications you have enabled
  • protect the service, diagnose errors and provide support
  • evaluate product quality using aggregated evidence

We do not sell personal learning content or publish it without separate permission.

4. Automated processing

Lingus may use automated models to resolve meanings, prepare contexts and assess open answers. These results can be wrong and may be corrected or challenged. They are not used to make legal or similarly significant decisions about a person.

5. Service providers and international transfers

Limited data may be processed by providers of cloud infrastructure, email and notification delivery, error monitoring, authentication and language processing. Each provider receives only what is required for its function under contractual and technical safeguards.

Where data is processed in another country, available lawful transfer mechanisms are used.

6. Retention

Account data and learning history are retained while the account is needed, then deleted or anonymised subject to backup cycles and mandatory legal retention. Security logs may be retained separately for a limited period.

7. Your rights

You may request access, correction, export, restriction or deletion of data and withdraw optional consent. Notification settings can be changed in the app and in the device settings.

Instructions for deleting an account are available on the account deletion page.

8. Security, children and policy changes

We use access controls, encryption in transit, protected session storage, security logging and need-to-know staff access. No system is absolutely secure, so suspicious activity should be reported promptly.

Lingus is designed for adult English learners and is not directed specifically at children. Material changes to this policy will be reflected by an updated date and, when required, an in-app or email notice.
